Many of us on here agree that the DT1990 is a bit too bright at stock. We all know that it needs a bit of EQ. The thing with this headphone though, is that it is so good at detail retrieval, instrument separation and layering, and dynamics. It is worth having this headphone in exchange for being willing to just put small EQ adjustments on it so that it sounds completely correct. I would rather have this awesome headphone with mild EQ adjustments on it, than not have the headphone at all. It really is an awesome piece of audio equipment. One thing for me, is I find with the balanced pads, my left ear touches the inside a bit. It is not painful though at all, as it is just the tip of my ear. With the analytical pads, neither ear touches the inside. The problem for me with the analytical pads, is snare drums just do not sound correct, even with EQ. The analytical pads cause snare drums hits to sound a bit thin, hollow, and not natural. They sound as they should though with the balanced pads.
