Would these headphones  benefit from a DAC or amp?

dac sure.
amp absolutely.
 
the 32 ohm impedance on these is very misleading.  they need a good amount of current because they are a bit insensitive.
 
i find them to be night and day different from phone or mp3 player to my amp.
much tighter cleaner and more umph down low

i've had a lot of luck running mine out of an old pioneer stereo receiver.
but im sure anything would be better than just ipod or hp out on a computer
 
it really depends on what you want to spend but solid state would probably be what you want
