I was wondering I own a pair of the DT 990 pro 250ohm and am currently using a creative sound blaster z audio card with the headphones plugged straight in to get surround sound using whatever the sbz uses. Is there a better surround audio experience I can get on my games using a different setup such as a amp and DAC separate?

Thanks

So the only way to get surround sound for gaming is getting a headset with virtual surround already listed or use a sound card correct ?

You could connect a headphone amplifier between the sound card output and the headphones if amplification is an issue.

There are a load of solutions I rate them in this order for surround:

Sennheiser GSX 1000
Soundblaster Z SBX pro
Soundblaster earlier models with CMSS
Dolby Headphone via card such as the Xonar series
Razors software
Realtek's surround mode

Get one of the top 3 ideally depending on how you intend to do amp/dac and such. Dolby headphone is a bit meh whereas SBX pro is pretty good and very similar to CMSS before it, the sennheiser is a reasonable amount clearer than SBX pro and less coloured but also a lot more expensive and external dac format.
