Best Video Game Soundtracks

Lots come to mind, but of all the official releases I've heard, the one I recommend over all others I can think of right now is Assassin's Creed 2 (the others in the series are also good, but 2 is the best value and arguably the best content-wise anyway).

Final Fantasy 9. I mean it's just... Well here's Loss of Me, you be the judge http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8eLzUvhfgs

Also if you're into old school tunes, then I'd recommend Sonic 2, Sunset Riders (Sega version) and Tower of Heaven (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kf57VJmveZM).

And who could forget the NHL 93 theme song  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qkx34_OOkpY I remember leaving the Sega on blasting this at full volume through the TV. For some reason my parents didn't appreciate it as much as I did.

The soundtrack off Tony hawks underground 2 is ahhhmazing, it made me want to be skater lol.  It seems like they put thought into every selection and they have a wide variety of music from frank sinatra, metallica, disturbed, the ramones, johnny cash, and atmosphere (someone i had never heard of at the time and just recently found out was a white rapper). anyways when i was a kid playing this i enjoyed each and every song on there.

All Halo's. I just posted this in another thread. Of all the videogames I have ever played, the Halo soundtracks are just completely engrossing. I can get sucked into that game from the music alone. All of the Forza's also had great soundtracks. Fable 1&2 were also interesting. (Can you tell I play Xbox?) Let me just throw in Minecraft as well.... =D

Zelda Ocarina of Time
Secret of Mana
Myst IV

Of the games mentioned only Myst IV has a 'real' soundtrack you can buy though

Just played Dead Space for the first time. Although the soundtrack isn't anything I'd listen to outside the game, it does an incredible job of scaring the hell out of you.
