Greetings!!!
 
So, I received my Little Dot MK III yesterday and this thing has a super high giggle factor LOL!!! Awesome unit!!!
 
It also came with a few tubes as well including a set of Mullard 8161 and GE 6AK5's...both sound excellent with my Maggies!!!
 
But here's the thing...the gain is set at 10...when I drop it down to 5, I loose that bass impact and with Maggies...they need that help!!! So what I would like is a real bassy tube with the same sonic qualities as the Mullard's or GE's that can give me that much needed bass at a lower setting.
 
Is that possible?? Suggestions??

I have read that this is an issue common to maggies. Apparently they work well at a given level. If you play too loud they will not like it and they don't like playing too low either. I don't think changing tubes in your pre amp is going to solve this.

Actually at the 10x gain I have awesome bass but there is very limited movement in the volume knob LOL!!!
 
Now if I can keep that bass and drop the gain down, that's what I'm looking for!!
