Not a tube amp, and from what I remember it doesn't sound much like a tube amp either.

^ You have an amp with enough power supply to ring the little f'ers neck. That is what's needed to get the 701s screamin.

Wouldn't that answer work for just about any amp question here?

IMHO, the Darkvoice 332 pairs well with the 701s.

Yes they are little fers. They {the k701s} don't really respond well until you drive the !@#$% out of them, then they conform to your will. I view them as stubborn things with alot of potential.

From a chinese forum, I understood that DV was not made with K701 in mind. Post production, the maker himself noted that K701 pairs well with DV, incidentally. I feel good pairing DV and K701.

Currently I'm using a 336i with my new K701 as well. Excellent sound, I think the only thing holding me back is my source (Zero).

One thing I must be impressed with though, for such a demanding headphone, the Zero actually runs it very well out of its dedicated amplifier.

I second the K701s with Leben. I have the bigger CS600. If you like the lush, mid-range-y sound, go with EL34 tubes in it. If you like a bit more frequency extension and balance to go with that tube magic, I recommend KT-77 or KT-88s.

Another huge surprise for me is WA2 with K701. With the new PDPS, WA2 just OWNS the K701s. Plus you get that classic OTL/SET tube magic. People who've thought that K701s sounded lean and clinical will change their minds if they hear the WA2/K701 combo. Very creamy sound...

I will get a Dared MP-5 next week just because of the posts I saw here in head-fi say it's a very good match w/ K701. I'll report back how well it matches next week. It will be my first tube gear

I'd try the speaker output for K701
