+1 for the Ultrasone Pro

You can find them around 300 and at that price, can't be beat for what you're looking for (bass, looks, portability).

(Edit) I have the m50s, not enough bass.

This.

Now... there are a few vintage headphones that are an option. The KOSS PRO/4AAA (not to be confused with the current production PRO/4AA or PRO/4AAAT) has the absolute best bass I've ever heard in a headphone, it's almost speaker-like in the sense that it'll slam the hell out of your head and has this immense presence to it. They isolate almost perfectly and have absolutely INSANE build quality; these things could probably survive being run over. After modifications the headphone can even compete with headphones in the $400+ range like the HD600. Check eBay, they usually go for $50-80 or so.

Keep in mind this is not without its sacrifices. The 4AAA in stock form has a kind of crunchy sound that works well with metal and electronica but not so much with some other genres. They do have recessed treble as well. But the main sacrifice, while not an issue for me, is the comfort. They are EXTREMELY heavy (LCD-2 heavy, 530 grams) and have these hard, pressed vinyl-type earpads that seal perfectly against your head (hence the insane bass and isolation) and cause sweat buildup. I've never been exceptionally sensitive to comfort in a headphone but others tell me the 4AAA is one of the most uncomfortable monsters they've ever worn.

They're also <BIG> cans, they stick out from the head quite a bit. Personally I don't care what they look like on my head if they sound good, but you might not want to wear them out for a walk. If you want a portable, the HV/1A from KOSS uses the same drivers as the 4AAA, but tuned differently and with foam pads instead. They're a bit rarer and prices can go crazy though, and I haven't actually heard it so I can't give a complete analysis of it.

But really, give the 4AAA a try, if it's not for you you'll find a KOSS fanboy somewhere who wants to buy it. Maybe me?

Now, just a warning, if you DO choose to try the 4AAA, be careful. There are three revisions of it, one of which is a black sheep with a redesigned (terrible) driver and considerably worse build quality. Look at the baffle for a concentric pattern on the acoustic lens, or alternately look at the hinges on the yokes. The following pictures show the things to avoid.

Good luck!

Where are you find Pro 900s for 300 bucks?  Used I presume?

Check out Amazon, click the 'used or refurb' tab on the for sale page.  I found mine there for $236.  It was supposed to be used but it came looking brand new, with the plastic film on the cups and plastic on the cables that to me looked like it had never been touched.

And there are a number for sale on the board right now as well below $300.

That's the lowest I've ever seen. By a large margin.

Hey guys, I'm a noob on this forum, and want to get the help from you (the pros) on what my next pair of cans will be. Here's my specs I want my cans to be:
Fairly nice looking
Bass that is very strong
Still fairly nice clarity
Thanks guys, and my price range is around to 300. Btw, no one say beats cause they are trash. Thanks again

If your first criteria is what's most important, you really should get the Beats as they match the criteria you listed and in that order They look 'nice', they have a 'strong' bass and they will be 'clear' enough to at least hear the words of the song and the instruments backing up the singer. The problem is if you get anything else they won't look as good as the Beats.

I'd argue that just about every headphone I own look better than any, ANY model of Beats.

But, honestly, the Pros and Mixr aren't nearly as bad as the other models sound wise. If the price was lower, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to someone wanting a basshead can.

For home listening or for portable use as well?

The Beyer 990s have been suggested, but more and louder deep bass on my 770s and mmx 300 for sure. 600 Ohm version does need an amp but does sound cleaner to me.

. The problem is if you get anything else they won't look like Beats.

Fixxed that for you there. Your personal view of them being the next famous painting or new best looking porn star does not make that a fact. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I think they look decent, but the stigma attached to them is something I wouldn't want to be associated with.

Takato14, those vintage pioneer are to me one of the best looking headphones EVER.

Those are the Pioneer SE-700 High-Polymer Piezoelectric headphones. Circa 1976.

Unfortunately they're restrictively difficult to power and even if you do manage to give them all the juice they need the results aren't quite worth it.
