For the past month I've had my eyes on the creative zen touch 40gig. Upon stumbling across these forums, I thought I would ask some people here. Which player has the best sound? I hope to get some decent earcanal earphones (super.fi 3) to back it up.

I'm not all into looks or features, just the sound that's delivered while playing 128kbs or better mp3. Help is appreciated!

My Zen Touch 40gb has a great, "by itself" sound. It also has a now (with a firmware update) decent EQ. But iAudio players also have a great sound just on their own as well. Your best best would be a Creative player, like the Touch, or an iAudio X5.

iPod shuffles also have great SQ.

ive seen alot of people using the sony hd-5, x5, and karma around here. cant say much about the zen touch or any creative product for that matter.

iriver, iriver and Rio have the best sound IMO

My Karma sounds excellent unamped, and my Forge sounds better than the few other flash players I've heard.

I love my karma, and would say it's sound quality is outstanding. Compared to the HD5, I'd say the only thing that sets it apart are the EQ settings and formats available.

Well I've looked into the Karma but there doesn't seem to be a 40gig available. Is that true or should I look harder?

Karmas only came in 20GB.
