Is $269 at HeadRoom the best deal out there or are there better places to buy etys from?

While there may be better prices out there I doubt anyone can beat the whole 'deal' that headroom offers. Tyll and company really have a strong commitment to thier demographic and that's not *only* thier customers.

After meeting Tyll on the tour I can honestly say I really don't think it's all about profit with him. Certainly profit plays a role but Tyll seems to 'get' that when you take care of your employees, your customers, and the community you reap great rewards.

Even if a better price could be found elsewhere I doubt you would get more than a $10-20 break if that. I would highly recommend purchasing from Headroom. Even if you do find a better price give Todd a ring and see what they can work out for you.

I'd also highly recommend headroom. I got mine from SageArts in Arlington, WA, but that was only because I was absolutely positive I wanted them and would keep them (so headroom's fantastic return policy wouldn't have done me any good) and they also were selling them at that time for $225. SageArts' price has gone up to $260+shipping now, though, so headroom is definitely the way to go.

how about best prices for ER6?
Or is Headroom the only carrier?

I am pretty positive about keeping it.(For isolation's sake)

There is a person on Ebay who sells Etymotics continuously. I don't know much about how Ebay works, but it's a "Dutch Auction", which means you sell multiple units and the lowest bid extends to all. Anyway, in practical terms, the bids start at 239.95 I think, and if you bid that, it appears you will get them at that.

There's something about the way Ebay functions that makes this the pro forma way to go about it. I surmise that this person is a retailer who gets a volume discount, but cannot possibly sell that many units over the counter, and so sells them on Ebay at a discounted price.

Go to Ebay and type Etymotic in the search. You'll see both ads, for the 4S and the 4P. The seller goes by the name "azvaquero" for one or the other, so you can't miss it.

Good luck, DGI

Hi Joe Bloggs,

I am a head-fier from HK too. I bought my 4Ps from a seller called
as9342 at Ebay. The delivery from Hong Kong is quite fast, around 5 working days to be exact. You got to try the 4Ps, the sound so exceptional and mid & highs are so transparent. If you can live with the SONY EX70, you should feel comfortable with the 4Ps too. The price is USD267 shipped to Hong Kong together the commission for PayPal payment. BTW, don't expect too much from the build quality, the build quality of the 4Ps thru. It's like a cheapo HP that you can buy on the street from $10. Hope this help.

Although the Etys look and feel like they would only cost about $10, their actual build quality is very good. These are tough little guys and can withstand much more abuse than one might assume. I had to mail mine back to Etymotic one time because I thought there was a problem with them (turns out I was just dumb). Anyway, they didn't even ask me to send them through the mail in the original box...they just said to toss the phones by themselves in a padded envelope and send them that way. That fact combined with the knowledge of Don Wilson's washing machine adventures with his should be ample evidence that these things are built to last a long time.

Washing machine adventure?

Why did it have to be don himself? It it were an ordinary customer it would be so much more believable...

Oh, I believe it alright. He forgot to take his etys out of his pocket at least twice when they went through the washer. On both occasions he just changed the filters when they came out and they were fine. Amazing little things, these earphones are.

So they're waterproof?

Hey, do the etys sold at eBay have valid warranties?

The fact that Don Wilson's Etys were so carelessly left in his pocket and through the washer isn't a testament of how tough or rugged they are as much as it is an indication of how slight his regard for them is, how cheaply they must cost for him to produce, and how overpriced they are.

I recently lost my er4s , i just use them so much but i did not for one day. then i just could not find them. I can assure you that this does not mean they have no value for me. so i have made a rule when im not listening to my ety's , I will put them around my neck with a tie in the cord. then I will always know where they are

Don is a busy guy and probably left his ety's i his pocket , i have to train my partner to check ALL POCKETS before the clothes washing. Etys are just too small
