I'm looking for a pair of headphones to use at work. I own Sennheiser HD-580s and 650s at home, but I tend to listen to music louder than normal. I sit pretty close to people (open area), so I don't think having open air cans is a good idea.

I definitely like the circumaural pad style the Sennheisers have, so that would be preferred.

My budget is $300-$400.

Can't wait to hear your responses!

Thanks

IMHO the beyerdynamic DT250 is about as close as one can get to the HD650 sound signature in a closed can, without any grievous faults.

It also tends to look plain, which is nice for a work headphone. The 80-ohm version driven by a Rockhopper mini3 is so nice I am in danger of not getting any work done.

Well, greater danger.

At work I use the Beyerdynamic DT770s. I have them on all day and they are very comfortable. To amp them, I have used the Headroom Total Bithead and also the RSA Hornet.

I highly recommend the Beyerdynamic DT150. It is a great closed can that seems a little under-appreciated around here.

x2. The DT150 is IMO somewhat of a closed version of the HD580 (with more PRaT).
And yes, I owned the HD580, and some other cans.

Try Denons. The D1001s are quite nice sounding and protect against out-leakage significantly while still allowing enough sound in to know if someone's trying to get your attention. The D2000s I'd imagine are very similar in these properties.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

So far, out of everything that has been recommended, the two that have caught my eyes are:

DT250 (non 80ohm version, I would probably get a portable amp)

DT770-Pro

Ultrasone looks interesting. Anyone have any additional information on these? The HFI-2200s look awesome.

What do you guys think? If you had to pick between those, what would you say? I'm nervous as to what they will sound like. I don't want to have too high of expectations going into them (i.e. assuming they're going to be of the 580/650 calibre).

Your help is appreciated.
