Best open back headphone mid-range/vocals under $450 that is not a Sennheiser

Haven't listened myself, but some folks seem to like the open-back AudioTechnica R70x. It has a somewhat strange headband design though, that some don't particularly like. There may be a few planar magnetics that would get you close as well. I know less about those though, so not sure which models to suggest.

I'm not familiar with the Beyer T70 btw, so can't really comment on that.

As a Quad Era-1 owner, i'd point you to the Verum 1 for this purpose.

Will order it next month to have a serious listening. :)

Actually just bought that..the Sennheiser hd660 is unbelievable for vocals as well
What sources or DAC/amps are you plugging the headphones into?
