Hi folks,

Love the HD650s but they lack the deep low/punchy bass I'm after. I listen to a lot of different music, but mainly hip hop and electronica (Madlib, Flying Lotus, Kendrick Lamar, Chance the Rapper).

What would be a good recommendation for open-back headphones? Budget up to $500.

Thanks.

I like @xanlamin suggestion. But if you don't need open back, consider a pair of Fostex TR-X00 from drop. They're not really closed and don't isolate well. What they do have is percussion and impactful bass. Incredibly fast pair of cans that bring a lot of music to life. Just beware there is a significant V signature, mids/vocals are recessed.

1990, X2, Grado Hemp.

He loves his 650 but is lacking the deep low end...and peeps are recommending him the Hemp? That is just madness. The 650’s bass already extends lower. If you want something akin to what the Hemp brings to the table ie forward mids and treble but also a better bass delivery? Well spring for a K612/K702. They’re also way more comfortable.
X2 is a great call. So is the HD58X.
I’d add K7XX, K712, R70X, K245 as well as the Sundara:)
Best of luck!
