Second for Portishead...this time the Roseland concert....

Another original in the last 15 must be Eric Clapton's "Unplugged"...no matter how overplayed it still is a disk I pop in to test any new piece of gear.

A new favorite was originally recorded beyond 15, but my copy has been remastered within the constraint period...Dave Brubeck Quartet's "Jazz at Oberlin"...the naked truth Jazz performance!

I thought Budokan wasn't that great actually. In fact, leaning towards the bad side

Another one I just thought of though is Nirvana - Unplugged

Absolutely, my fave Live Dave Brubeck! It's not the highest fidelity, nor is Dave Brubeck Live at Carnegie Hall, but both of those discs are must haves. I have the Jazz at Oberlin on hybrid SACD - someday I'll get a SACD player and cut that album loose!

I'll second that. Great SACD with superb sound quality.

Has anyone heard the two live Dispatch albums? They are a great band, and I've found that the Gut The Van disc is recorded fairly well. These guys are excellent performers, I'm pretty sure a large portion of the members here would enjoy it. The have a sound similar to Dave Matthews and O.A.R.

While I know the music is far from most people's radar, I was amazed with the quality of Rasputina's "A Radical Recital" live album recorded last fall. For such a small band on a small label (which I'm sure means it was done on a small budget) the recording's fantastic.

I get to see them next Friday night, so there's that to look forward to as well!

The result is amazing recordings that put you in the room.

At last, another Mapleshade fan at Head-Fi...and a Grado guy, at that. Welcome brother!

I've never heard anything like a Mapleshade recording, completely devoid of studio pretension of any kind. Even the free mp3s on their site sound amazing...highly recommended.

Here's a pair of classic rock comeback CD's I'm surprised no one has mentioned yet:

Fleetwood Mac's The Dance & the Eagles' Hell Freezes Over

The Dance is little overproduced to be called a legitimate "Live" recording but it is still an incredibly well recorded disc.

Hell Freezes Over is best experienced in DTS format in a well designed/tuned home theater system. Absolutely mind blowing SQ on that disc

Add my name to that list. Not a Grado guy but a definite Mapleshade believer. I own 7 or 8 different Mapleshade recordings and any of them can be used as reference material for even the best audiophile system. Not the biggest fan of the fact that Pierre has started to push equipment almost as much as music over the last few years but that is for another thread on another day

Thanks for the tip. Indeed impressive workmanship. You get the feeling these are serious live music lovers and recording enthusiasts. Beautiful sense of presence. And I have so far only listened to the 128kb/s MP3 samples...
