Anyone got tips on this..
The must:
Be able to play all loseless format i.e .flac .wv .ape etc
high quality audio..
i prefer it to be smaller like the ipod nano but need a lot of storage cuz loseless files are huge!
amps are optional but i will get one someday
dont need crap like sexy screen (but always good to have), wireless etc..
apple is basically ruled out cuz they dont support these new format
cheers

Closest off the top of my head is the Cowon D2 or Iaudio7. Both will give you around 16GB of storage (D2 needs a SD card). Both are compact in size and they both support FLAC and wave.

though i haven't tried the iaudio 7

from the reviews i've read about it. it's one amazing little player.
the only downside is that they will make sensitive IEMs hiss.

Don't use sensitive headphones

Actually, the only player that doesn't hiss might be the iMod.

I'm curious, why you need the player to support all the different lossless formats?

Why don't you convert them to one format, say all .flac?

Exactly. It seems like a few minutes of lossless format conversion is a lot easier than searching through many players and possibly compromising on price/aesthetics/features/etc.
