You keep saying you'll be getting the 558/598 and then your asking if the velours will reduce the bass for the denons? I had the 558's and sold them after a month because the bass was nowhere near good enough for me. I wont say it was non existant, it was there, but had zero impact and was uninvolving.

and adding velour to headphones that weren't made for velour could reduce the bass to have less than the 558s...
 
I was under the impression that the 558s are bass neutral, which is fine by me
