+1 on both. The mids are a little too scooped on the Beyers for me (I have the 250 ohm version), so I would highly recommend the D2000. I love mine paired with the HiFiMan EF-5 amplifier. They're pretty spectacular for the money.

If you want something cheap that sound good, get the AKG K81DJ's, but for a little more the ATH M50's sound better.

I think the M50s has a straight cable and the other has the coiled cable. Otherwise they are the same.
I prefer the coiled cable. The cable is not in the way like the straight cable, good for portable use, but extends when needed.

lots of people refer to the ATH-M50's as m50s, just leaving out the '.

but phangtonpower is right the 's' denotes a straight cable. when i went out to pick up my pair, guitar center didnt have the coiled version, but i really wanted these phones, so i took the straight cable. i recommend the coiled one. i hate the straight cable.

You wont be disappointed. Also I remember reading from sights recommending an amp for these headphones, and although they do sound slightly better, it is not needed. Sounds fine right out of my Sansa Fuze.

I just got a pair of the ATH-M50s. Definitely sounds like it will fit what you're looking for.

Dr Dre Beats are great for Rap and Hip Hop.
No, theyre not accurate, but they go loud without distorting, the noise cancelling works excellent, and they got bass.
Over-priced to an audiophile..............YES! But if youre only into urban music, youll love them. Theyre not all-rounders.

Why would anyone recommend these for any genre of music? From my brief listen to the beats the bass is that of the Sony XB series; extremely bass heavy running over the mids. If you're looking for bass, real bass that goes deeper and hits only when it's called for take a listen too HFI-780s.
