I want to spend about $400 ideally but $500 max on a new pair of headphones. I don't have any sort of amp I can use right now, but eventually I'll invest in an amp. What kind of amp should I get with that particular headphone, I know there are a lot, so I'll limit my budget there to about $250. However, I'm going to wait a little before a get the amp, probably about three months, but I can live until then with headphones that should be amped, even though they aren't.

Senn HD600 is a good allrounder IMO. Schiit Asgard would be sufficient for it

I really like the Sennheiser 600/650 but for electronica/rap I'd recommend one of the following:
 
Hifiman HE-300
Hifiman HE-400
Hifiman HE-500
Beyerdynamics DT880
Beyerdynamics DT990
 
Some of the above will require an amp, some not.
 
My personal choice would be the HE-500 which I own myself - but it requires a good amp and is quite heavy for extended use.
 
The Beyers are very good and easier to drive (if you select the right model). They are comfortable and well made.
