For gaming doesn't really matter, I use any headphones.

100-200 USD

I looked at the Denon D2000, but looks like I might need amp for that. The previous one I had was the D550 and I liked that a lot, lasted me 3 years, wasn't exactly careful with it, just wore out. Something like that maybe?

Where to buy would be also great recommendation.

I think some of you are missing this.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I've decided to take the plunge and buy the HD595. If I really need close enclosure, I'll buy a HD280 at a later time. Thanks again.

I would like to throw out a vote for the 80 ohm version of the DT990. I have a pair that I sometimes use straight out of my iPod. You don't get quite the impact that an amp provides, but to my ears, the sound quality is good and the bass is decent.

For $100 USD, I would get the MDR-V6. For $200 USD, I would get the HD25-1 or HD25-1 II. I haven't heard the HD25-1 II, but if it's anything like the HD25-1, it's an great pair of headphones.

yeah, if you can try out hd25-1 somewhere you may like them ... i use for ipod (no amp). if you do get them then the next thing is to replace the cable for a decent ofc copper one (hd580?), which improves the sound. mind you, i didn't do this until a year after buying them, so the sound is really good to start with.

they have replaceable parts so you may feel like sticking with them for some time, despite all the temptation on this board!
