It's quite simple, really. What do you believe are the absolute best values for hi fi headphones, EIMs, whatever? Can a hi end product be had for under $200? The only rule is to state a reasonable price. This means approximate market value for a good quality used one or wherever the product is cheapest. For instance, let's go with Japanese prices for Japanese brands, and American prices for most others. =)

Think I am on to something here...
New -> Stax SR-303, can be had for around $340.
Used -> Stax SR-Lambda (Pro), can be had for around $2-300.

i'd vote for the dt880s for value/sound quality ratio.

Depends on your source, amp (if any), music, etc....

Of the three headphones I have, they are all a good value for around $150 +/- used....Grado SR225, Sennheiser HD580 and the AKG501. Based on what I've read the DT880 belongs in this group as well.

There is no ONE best. They are all different but all are great values that deliver excellent sound quality. Just depends on what you're looking for.

I vote for HD580. If you like symphonic music and have a decent amp, you're good to go! Got mine on amazon right before they ran out for 106.00. Craziness.

Don’t you need a special amplifier for those?

Of course, if you already got electrostats that doesn’t count.
I’d vote for the DT880 or the K601 as well, by the way. They’re pretty good for their quite low prices.

Sure! But you need a special amplifier for dynamic headphones as well...

We are talking about headphones here though, not amplifiers.

Dang, that's cheap. Aren't used ones ~$150 now?
