Best headphone amplifier over £500?

The question makes no sense. Do you mean under $500? Because if not, this pretty much means we can tell you to get, say, an RSA Raptor, a Blue Hawaii, a Zana Deux, etc.

If we're talking K1000s, wasn't there a tube power amp for about $100k or so that is one of the world's best?

X infinity if the original question is correct. Even if the original question is for the amps under 500 pounds, you still need to specify if you're looking for desktop or portable, or battery operated. There are quite a few variables that need to be defined for us to offer sensible answers.

A pair of Audio Note GakuOn would be awesome! Driving the K1000 of course...

Our question may have been a little unclear. We were just interested to hear what your opinions are on the best headphone amplifier you've heard over £500 (over $1000) ?

You're right that price certainly does not always indicate performance - we're just curious to know what your choices would be over £500 ($1000) ?

With the new "best headphone amplifier you've heard over £500" restriction it would be either the β22 or the Signature 30.2.
