Doom (2016) with soundtrack by Mick Gordan is just chills...
No other soundtrack has ever made me feel like I'm not trapped in a room full of demons - they're trapped in the room with me.

I flat refuse to play Dark Ages because of what Id Software did to Mick Gordon. They are dead to me.

Conversely one of the reasons I love Supergiant games is because they use Darren Korb for every soundtrack and he’s really become an integral part of their games. His music really drives each one. Bastion, hades, and transistor all have fantastic soundtracks and playing them with good speakers/headphones can really enhance the experience.

FR... that was scummy behaviour.
Can't blame all of ID, since it was mostly the actions of one greedy man, but they also never tried to make amends.

I don't listen to soundtracks usually, because it's basically ambient noises in the background, but i started to play Clair Obscur recently, and the music there is outstanding! I often find myself really listening to it while running through locations.
As a general recommendation, you can get some songs from Silent Hill series.
If you're looking for some metal, try Doom 2016 ost.
If you want something unique, you may like norwegian throat singing from God of War and Hellblade.
Personally, i like the music from original Final Fantasy 7 and Psychonauts.
