I currently own Sennheiser HD215 which I got 3 years ago as my first attempt into getting something that's not garbage.

Now I would like to retire them although they work flawlessly and increase the sound quality. I play from my PC usually which motherboard was top of the line and has a better than your usual audio crap on it.

Anyway I do not plan buying AMP so I don't wanna get the many headphones that I have seen that are great but are much better with AMP.

Any suggestions?

So far I have found

- Sennheiser momentum 1.0

- Sennheiser 598

- AKG 702

- Focal spirit ONE S (after a friends suggestion who own one)

I don't mine on-ear but I would prefer over the ear.

Thank you in advance!

I used to own the K702s and could never really get into them even with hundreds of hours burn in, and gobs of power to drive them. I've had the '598s for about 6 months and really like them. They image much better than the AKGs, and they even sound pretty good using only an iPhone or iPad. Comfortable too.  I haven't heard the others on your list.

The AKG K702 needs an amp.  The Audio Technica ATH-A900X doesn't, so the AD900X ought to be the same (the AD900X is the open version) so that's a good option.
