Probably one thread like this too many, but I can't resist. This should be a fun topic nonetheless, yes?

Obviously, this is in the rock/pop category, and pertains to albums that are centered on one idea, one story, one character, and/or one theme. In other words, there is a thread that connects all the songs that demands listening to the entire album in order for the individual pieces/songs to have the most meaning/impact.

Instead "best" maybe think in terms of your personal "favorite". I will ponder my choice...

Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.

The Who - Quadrophenia

These are my two choices...hey, I just thought of some more additions to the Favorite Double Album thread!!

styx - "mr. roboto" just kidding.

my choice is obvious - the best - pink floyd "the wall"
second would be pink floyd - really roger waters "the final cut"
third - roger waters "amused to death"

honorable mention goes to rush which had a few good ones.

sorry couldn't come up with just one, there are quite a few but those would be at the top.

"Dazzle Ships" by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. amazing concept album.

"Trans Europe Express" by Kraftwerk. well... almost all of Kraftwerk's albums are concept albums, but this is the strongest.

David Bowie - 1.Outside; the Nathan Adler Diaries

Not really one of my absolute favorite albums, but the only one that comes to mind in this context.

Queensryche - Operation:Mindcrime is a great one. The first concept album in my collection, and the one I keep going back to.

Savatage - The Wake of Magellan. This one's growing on me. I need to get some more Savatage.
