I find the bass on the UE 6000 (active mode) to be a bit too much.  Also, the midrange sounds kind of recessed.  Does anyone have some good equalizer settings to bring the active mode closer to passive mode (or better in general)?  I would rather use the active mode, as it is easier to drive and filters noise slightly better.

Could someone recommend a program that I could use to perform a one-time equalization on the phones, without having optimize the equalizer for every song?  I use Windows 7 64 bit, if it matters.

Check out the graphs over at innerfidelity.com ... You can see where the dips and peaks occur, in order to tweak accurately.

Foobar2000 is a highly recommended source that plays all music files and has EQ settings.

From MalVeauX on tips to getting it to a flatter FR response. (passive)

Notice around 180~190hz, there's a dip. So raise that a touch.
Notice from 200hz to 1khz there's a gentle scoop going down. If you want flat, you'll want to raise those a touch.
Notice in the treble, those spikes. Just look where are in hz or khz, and drop those down a touch.

Good luck. :)
