Hi guys,

My story goes like this: A few months back I bought the AMB y2 after being very happy with my y1 lite. As with the y1 i connected it via usb because my computer doesn't output s/pdif.

Now I wonder about using the coaxial input. Everywhere I looked  coaxial was mentioned as the best option for using the y2.

What are my options for a coaxial output?

I want to spend less then 100$.

Thanks!

Hi. My view is that your system would be seriously lopsided if you're gonna use a y2 and $100 usb-spdif connector as your source. Anything other than perfectly recorded material will be exposed to sound like crap by your amp and headphones.

False economy to skimp on the source here. Made worse by limiting yourself to a cheapo spdif converter.

Suggestions:
1. pony up more for the converter - Hiface at a minimum, M2Tech Evo, ART Legato (44.1 only), Halide Bridge, Wavelength Wavelink
2. sell the y2 and get an integrated USB DAC - HRT Music Streamer II+ or even the Pro version (with balanced output - if building your B22 that way)

Cheers
