Came across a short article on Fazioli pianos. I remember Uchi wrote about them along with Steinways and Bösendorfers a little while ago. I found it an interesting light read.
However the final paragraph on Mr Fazioli's 'special software' made me do a double take :confused_face(1):

Article is rather polite about how Steinway conducts itself. Once you sign up as a Steinway artist, they will make it hellishly difficult to switch to a different make.

I don't like baroque pieces on the modern piano, I find the expression of the piano wrecks them

I feel the same about those dreadful harpsicords

IMO a "baroque piece" is not a baroque piece at all on a modern piano.
It may sound good but it`s not idiomatic.
yes I know it sound good but on original instruments are godly

At the end of the day we have no idea what the composer would like his music to sound like *today*. For all we know Bach would be playing his keyboard works on a Bösendorfer Imperial wearing sunglasses and a sequins codpiece if he had his druthers in 2016.

A beautiful recording by Sinopoli and Studer.

Studer's voice became somewhat thin and steely later in her career, but must have a listen.
So far, loving LISA DELLA CASA imho, with SCHWARTZKOPF a close second -

Interesting article indeed. However I think that Fazioli's are not universally suitable for all kinds of music. I have the Angela Hewitt Debussy recording which sounds great and the slightly more resonant sound of the Fazioli pairs well with the music and her playing. On the other side of the spectrum with Louis Lortie playing Liszt "Annees de Pelerinage" it sounds at times as if the instrument is just tiny step shy of breakdown.
