So the Prager is your fav for Dvorak? Which quartet pieces from Dvorak do you like most?

Yeah. But I haven't listened to the full sets by Panocha and Stamic.
1st SQ is what grabbed me at first, and opened the door for the rest of Dvorak's chamber works. It must have imprinted on me, as it remains my favourite. He composed it after avoiding the draft and according to the same liner notes it describes the his relief and joy. I get a lot more melancholy from the piece though which I love.

no. 10, and 14 are great too.

I don't think Prager recorded any of his quintets.. flipping love the op.97

This percussion? Jazz symphonic?

The Nørgård and Xenakis are solo percussion. The G-H piece is percussion solo + orchestra (not jazzy at all). Kind of Rouse-ish or Rouse + Kalniņš.

Scandinavian orchs/conductors, and composers (mostly "contemporary" music) have been completely off my radar and out of my collection. I just find many of the pieces too minimalist.

That Norgard I Ching percussion piece was pretty good. As were the articles. Thanks. Will have to probe some more online. Sibelius and Grieg were as far as I got with Scand composers.

Norgard has some pretty out there stuff, well worth digging. On the more pleasant side I've been enjoying Geirr Tveitt, who's been getting the deluxe treatment on both BIS and Naxos lately.

Hold the phone, how has this existed for 9 years and I never knew about it‽‽ I'm slipping in my old age:

Emil Gilels did a marvelous Lyric Pieces.

Already have it. The one I'm trying to find is Ciccolini's complete set, which seems to have been dumped in the pit with the ET cartridges.
