I really enjoy putting on my headphones to "forget about life for awhile" I wonder what are your favorite albums to relax to. Just a few of my favorites: Porcupine Tree " Voyage 34 The Complete Trip" Cusco " Best Of " Pink Floyd "Atom Heart Mother"

That is one of my favorite ambient CD's!

What has been mentioned above is great (if classic) material. Here are two very recent, and rather incredible, releases in the genre (samples of each track available):

Chillosophy

Chillosophy 2

Seriously cool, top drawer stuff. Other genres are stagnating, but ambient/chill out keeps rolling along with kick ass releases that keep on getting better and better. Get on board, man!

A few tracks from each CD have been featured on Musical Starstreams (click my signature below for a direct link to the downloadable .mp3's). The Waveform label has a LOT of music like this...

Clannad: Anam

Enya: A Day Without Rain

Echoes of Nature: Ocean Waves (i often play this album overnight so i fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the ocean)
Not everyone in Hawaii lives near the ocean

Echos of Nature: Thunderstorms

YES YES YES! Beg, borrow or steal. Vladislav Delay has it going on. "Entain", "Multila" and "Anima" are all essentials. In a similar vein, Jan Jelnick/Gramm/Farben are very good also.

Just picked up "Selected Ambient Works Volume II". Very very nice from what I have heard so far. Must buy that Orb album.
