Find it amazing that no-one's mentioned the Buddha Bar series. Absolute top-draw stuff, every one. Be careful, as there are a lot of cr@ppy compilations with "Buddha" in the title. Accept no substitute: the original Buddha Bar albums (George V Records) are amazing.

There's also a spin-off series called "Siddhartha: Spirit of Buddha Bar". Volume 3 has just been released, and I just can't stop listening to it!

Definitely agree... I've got a couple of them, and the sound quality is mostly excellent (with a few exceptions). Very pleasant for either foreground or background listening, although not all of it is chill... some I find rather energizing instead.

True, the second CD of each album (they are all double-albums) is more uptempo, but without straying into clubland territory.

My favorite is probably Buddha Bar IV.

100% agree. This is a great chillout album.

Another, in a very similar style: Air - Moon Safari. Such a great chillout album.

I think they've already been mentioned but most in the Café Del Mar series are very nice too.

Some nice recommendations. The genre can be so diverse...I've been listening to samples of music mentioned here on amazon like a madman and find diff artists/albums to be love/hate for sure. At the moment I've racked up about $180 in the cart...this can't be good.
