Best cans for 100$?

depends on a few things:

Do you want it to be open or closed?
What music do you listen to?
What's your source (do you have an amp)?

At $100 I'd go for either Alessandro MS-1 or Audio Technica AD700. Assuming you can do an open can. If you absolutely must have closed, then I'd recommend the Audio Technica A700.

But it's a rather tentative recommendation without knowing your music preference and how you like it to sound.

I like mainly Classical, classic rock, and a little hip-hop.

Open/Closed doesn't really matter, just as long as it sounds decent.

I was looking at the Senn 555 or AD700 like you said.

You're going to have to provide the standard information here:

-What music do you listen to?
-What will you be plugging them into?
-Is isolation a desired characteristic?
-etc.

EDIT: Wasn't quite fast enough...

Might want to look into the Denon D1001's or Beyerdynamic DT770/80's also if you want closed phones.

EDIT: for classical... I think I would lean towards the AD700
In any case, definitely open.

classical + hip hop makes for a weird mix though.. AD700 might not have the bass you want.

Actually I would rather have open.

Are the MS-1s any good? Haven't heard a lot about them...

Indeed.
