looking for something with great bass impact and quality and willing to spend up to 500 (including an amp if required).

i currently own m50s, gr02 BE, with c&c bh, e11 and zo2.3 as amps. i have crossfade LPs and Q701s on the way too

ive been looking into the HE-400 but i heard that there isn't really enough bass impact with it. the m50's (white box edition) felt very neutral and muddy to me and i didn't find the bass that impressive or enjoyable, although they are a good pair of phones overall for my first purchase and have served me well. im looking to upgrade now.

would appreciate any recommendations for bass phones in this price range. im not only worried about bass and of course the other ranges matter, but a lack of 'wow' bass is a dealbreaker

i was looking into the HE-400 but im not sure if that will satisfy my needs. are these phones a big upgrade from the white box m50s and do they provide adequate impact in comparison, considering i wasnt impressed with the m50s?

I think the V Moda M-100 or the Denon D600 will satisfy you. Another option is the Beyer DT770 and if you are looking for open headphones you should have a look at the Fidelio X1

Bass impact is amazing on the Pro 900 by Ultra-sone.
But, you'd want a nice DAC/AMP to hear the quality.

The Denon-2000 is a winner too, very nice bass. Not quite the massive impact of the ultrasones, more relaxed.
