i agree the 100's are great and can be found for under 50.00.

Mylarone x3s have really grown on me. $50+shipping from Singapore, I believe. They do need different tips to shine, though. Look through the forums and you'll see the thread about it.

Ah, but I got mine from the hand of the man, Uncle Wilson.

I am going to get a pair soon. I have read about so many people comparing them to more expensive and well known brands and preferring these.

The HD580 were going for as low as $125 at one point. I see them at Newegg for $129. They have the same drivers as the HD600 and are outstanding headphones, even if they are not going to sound their best out of an ipod.

considering i got my sennheiser cx300's for 20 bucks brand new (for a white pair) and my gf's silver pair for 17ish, that was definitely it.

As far as retail prices go...I'm EXTREMELY happy with my grado SR80's...whenever I buy anything (except clothing) I always put in numerous hours on researching what I want for my self imposed budget (what i consider to be a reasonable price for headphones might be considered cheap as hell for some of you audiophile folk

. So it's really a matter of what your budget is. With me, I'm probably more likely to spend a little bit extra on a really nice set of speakers than I am for headphones, but I like to have a decent pair of headphones for when others that I live with need some quiet time (I'm a nighthawk).

So for me, I set a budget of around 100-150 (canadian) and found that the best bang for my buck would be the grado sr60's or sr80's. I went with the SR80's because people said the bass was more pronounced on them than on the sr60's.
