Best bang for your buck

I think some people are mistaking "bang-for-the-buck" with "inexpensive". Anything that has an apparent worth that exceeds its price is considered as having a good "bang-for-the-buck". If the MDR-R10 were sold for $1500, it would be quite the bang for the buck, despite costing 100 times as much as the KSC75.

While this might be true, I would question anyone who didn't acknoweldge that there are strong diminishing returns in the audio world as the pricetag soars, which means the best bangs for the buck will probably be at the low end.

Got my vote for the Grado 60s. They will blow away major brand names such as Sonys at the same price point. Comfy too as long as you got the pads without the holes.

I didnt care about comfort too much when I first got into headphones, but now its a must!!! I lose alot of hearing pleasure when I'm constantly reminded of that foreign object plugged in my ear or head clamp squeezing my noggin like a tomato.

KSC75, SR60, MS1, K81DJ, RP-21, PK3, EP630, HAFX33, PLUG, SparkPlug

Grado SR60 with hole modded comfies or bowl pads, IMHO the additional clarity and "Grado slam" is $$$ well spent over the KSC75.

Not all that long ago, you could score a pair of AKG K1000s for around $300 or $400. At that pricepoint, they represented the best bang for buck ever in the world of headphones IMHO. Hell, even at the insane prices they command today, they are still worth every freakin' penny. Of corse this assumes that you have the juice needed to power those beasts.

Other than the K1000s at $400, I would have to say KOSS KSC-75s, Grado SR-60s and Grado HF-1s (at their original asking price) - all represent outstanding values for such little dough...

Very interesting to me that noone yet seems to have mentioned the PX100. Another very worthy contender for those who like a little more warmth to the sound than the SR-60 or the KSC-75.

I agree completely, except I would add Beyer DT-880's. I love both the Ety ER4s and the Beyers and can't imagine life without any of these cans.
