Hi guys, i have recently set my mind on the audeze lcd 2.2, However with my current set up i may not be experiencing it to its potential. Im using the Fiio E9 with the Schiit Modi. I would like a amp under 700 that would best compliment my Audeze and my denon d5000. I will not be upgrading the DAC at this time. The Modi is sufficient. Thanks!

Folks say that the O2 works well with the Audez'e. I've used only dynamic headphones with it, i cant comment more on that combination.

Bump, after recently buying the schiit lyr ad returning it for the risk of damaging my audeze, I'm in for a new amp under 700 dollars. Any suggestions? I was looking into te Burson ha 160 btw.

Wait, what? I was under the impression that the LCD2 and Lyr had decent synergy? Mine come in tomorrow so I can't say how well they pair, but 'damaging' the LCD2's? Can you elaborate?

When you turn the amp off with the headphones plugged in it makes a popping sound like the driver is blown. Also my AKG is affected like the one shown here

I did not want to risk any damage so I'm returning it.

Me too, however mine still had the problem. I came to the decision to return it and get a new amp because I don't want to run the risk of getting another defect and such.

I may be off base, but have you looked at the Lake People G109? About $500USD unbalanced ("S" model) from Lake People direct (assuming you are in the US and don't have to pay VAT). I've heard it is an extremely underrated amp and comparable (relative to price) to its big brother the V200. Someone can chime in and correct me if I'm wrong.

It's a wee bit cheap for your request, but I think you should still try the iFi iCAN, you may be able to save some pretty polly. Not the LCD2, but I tried the HiFiman HE-500 with my iCAN and colour me impressed. You can read of my experiences with different headphones and the iCan here:

I was really chuffed with the sound of the HE-500 with this.

For 700, you can't get much better than the Schiit Mjolnir.. said by many to be the best amp for under 1k for the Audeze's. When I heard it, I was very pleased.. although I didn't have enough time to properly judge.. but first impressions were good. I also liked the Violectric V200 with the Audeze's as well.
