Hi,

I'm looking for a tube amp for my K701 around the 500-600$ price range.

I was interested in the cayin ha-1a (still is if anyone has one) but they sell around 695$ new, and that's a bit too much for me.

Everyone seems to recommend WooAudio 6, Singlepower Extreme, X-Can V3....and others, but I'd like to hear feedback from people who use the K701 with tube amps.

My current setup is: Arcam CD73< DH Labs Air Matrix < Sansui Integrated Amplifier < K701

Thanks.

Hi, I have the Wooaudio 6 powering a pair of AKG K701's and just love it. Sound and build quality are excellent. The amp is dead quite between tracks. I can find no faults with it at all. A class act!

Doge 6210 give very good bass with the 701's.

The Bada PH12 (a hybrid) gives the hard to drive 701's more control of the low end.

a very subjective question. answers will vary greatly. in that price range, a woo may be a good option though, or a used single power.

I asked the same questions a while ago, people suggested MAD Ear+ Purist, did a bit of research and found out it maybe a good idea, so I ordered one and anxiously waiting ...

Well, my 2 cents... I am using a WooAudio 3 with some nice rolled tubes, and the sound is just how I want it with the 701s. Really, the bass is very engaging and so different from all the comments about the 701s being reserved and laid back, and analytical. Very clean extension with the Woo into the trebel and mids, and as I said, very nice bass. If I were buying today, I would buy the Woo Audio 6, which I did hear at Head Fest in San Jose, CA. But you know, the Woo 3 is doing it just fine for me. You sometimes have to love the amp you're with.

I suggest the Woo Audio 6. I have the Woo 3, and it is very nice, but the 6 would be even nicer, and fits your budget. Sorry double post, what was I thinking?
