Hi all,

A little question for my first post..

I like the sound of the headphone jack of my Marrantz 1070 with the K701
, but I need something with (just a little) more bass at low listening volume.

Something in the €200-€300, price range.

Any ideas ?

Many thanks

Thanks a lot for your answer Bjorn.

That's a really interesting (because it's cheap...),
is it works well at low volume?

You want to get bass with little input power out of the K701s? Tall order that.

You might want to consider Little Dot MKV. It is a SS amp, dual mono design. Works very well with K701.

If you can stretch the budget a bit, you might want to consider Lisa III. They got bass adjustment knob, and work well with my K701.

(although I prefer tubes amp)

Hmm... have you considered the source as a culprit? I was quite surprised when I saw how much extra low information a source upgrade brought.

Well, maybe...
But I don't think I should Have enough money to buy another source before next year.

But I keep this possibility in mind for the future.

Thanks.

The Lisa III, like a huge swathe of good portable amps is out-of-stock!

Maybe a used one ...?
In this case, what do you think is a correct price?

IMHE, the K701 does not lend itself well to "low volume" listening. I always felt it needed more volume to truly "deliver," and that it hit uncomfortable sound pressure levels before ultimately delivering what I thought it was capable of.

IMO, The K701 is full of details, when listen at normal level.

I just need really low level at night, just before sleeping.
This means that I don't need some "heavily loud sub bass" makes me feel vibrations in my stomach.

What will make me happy is just simply hear the double bass when I am in my bed...

Well, maybe I ask to much.

do you have any suggestions for those who are in search of good sound at low volumes? i was under the impression that the D2000's which i see in your sig required relatively high volumes to perform their best, is this not the case?

I have to admit, I'm tending to find the same thing. Well, not uncomfortable, but certainly they like some volume before they really sing to me.
