Has anyone tried use Bel Canto DAC3 as a headphone amp?
I tried DAC3 > XLR output > Balanced W5000 and have to set the volume at 55 (Max is 65).
Just want to know whether this is normal or not. It seems that the output is not as powerful as I thought.

Haven't tried using my DAC3 to drive phones directly, but you should have a volume range that goes to 100 (2.25Vrms at RCA, 4.5Vrms balanced). Default power up is volume is 65 to provide speaker protection.
