My Audio-Technica ATH-Pro700 is my main headphone for a few years now and now I am looking for something that will compliment it; something that has a different sound signature (They sound similar to the M50s but they are have more bass.) I'm leaning towards a can that has great soundstage and ideal with rock, acoustic, classical, and metal. After doing some ample research I was about to pull the trigger on the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro but I want to explore my options. I'm also considering the DT770 Pro, AD900, or the SRH840. Is there other phones worth considering that are comparable with the ones I listed. Thanks!

BTW I have a E7 E9 combo for amplification.

The Denon D2000, AKG K550 and you may find Sony SA5000 under this price range, they all are very detailed in mids, highs with deep punchy bass and wide soundstage. DT990 are also very good buy because they are very comfy to wear and offers detailed soundsignature.

I made up my mind and ordered the DT990 pros. I got them used for $149 on B&H and they should come in next week. I'll post my impressions after I have some time with them.
