Been a few years(?) since I've been on head-fi... been contemplating buying one last master system.

Last I was here the top spots went to : l3000, r10, he90, omega II, 010

Anything new in the mix since i've been gone I should consider? How did the Edition7 turn out?

besides the usual suspects - R10, 010, K1000, L3000, HP1000, PS1, HE60/HE90, OII - add these two to the mix.

- HeAudio 1.2B electrostatic headphone (HE90-like)
- Ed.9 by Ultrasone (some really love it, huge bass)

For a thousand dollar amp check out the Yamamoto HA-02. It sounds great for the headphones it is designed for (low impedance) and is a piece of art.

where are the Joe Grado people? Did they not get the memo on this thread?

One more that I bet will make the list if any of us ever find a pair is the mythic PMB1000 or 500, the last electrostatic headphones made on a Jecklin frame.

Some 'phones to check out:
* Stax SR-007MK2, SR-007A
* HeAudio EH-1.2B
* Taket H2
* Ultrasone Edition 9

Thats about it. Not counting the older and well known R10, 010, K1000, L3000, HP1000, PS1, HE60, HE90, ...

Pretty much nothing's changed as far as the top cans.

I'd say the Ed.9s are close and may be the top for some. The GS-1000s for others. Heck even the UE11s seem to have a huge following considering they are IEMs. And don't forget the modded Denons that Markl sold his R10 for

I'm happy with my K-1000/HP-2 combo along with my GS-1000 which still cries out for a matching amp.

umm, where were you when I unloaded the Slam SE maxxed out? I took a gigantic bath on that unit and hoped you would have chimed in, and long before I lowered it to the floor practically

Not too well. We think they repainted the old stock Ed7's and are selling them as Ed9's for $1500 cheaper.
