Battlefield 2 Demo - GET IT NOW!

I finally got the game today, dvd version. Is it just me, or are the server sorting functions pretty much useless? The game also seems unfinished. There is a drop down menu for game type, yet Conquest is the only option. Perhaps they shaved off some features to save time and/or are going to unload them into an expansion pack.

To tell the truth, I think I'd be happy just playing the Demo with Gulf of Oman map exclusively.

Yep, BF2 is a classic EA/Dice release. Buggy and unfinished.

Yet it is a huge improvement over the original BF1942.

The first patch is supposed to be out soon. But not until after the 18th apparently, since all of the EA/Dice crew for BF2 are on vacation for another two weeks.

Vacation?! After this half-assed attempt at BF2?!

JK =) - I agree it's very much improved but the patch better fix a lot of noticeable issues, if not add desirable features.

Question for Edwood or other BF2 players:

How does VOIP work with BF2? I actually have never used VOIP, so an explanation for a newbie would be much appreciated. Is it integrated into every server for squad-play? If it costs extra to have, I'd rather stick with Ventrilo imo. Thanks.

The server needs to have it enabled, and the server needs to have it installed. It's part of the game, so it does not cost extra. Look for the little headphone icon next to the server listing.
Also in the game you need to "push to talk" hold a key down to talk. It's "B" for talking to your squad leader, and "V" if you are a squad leader, to talk to the commander.

Although I really wish it is more like how headsets are used in Halo 2 on the XBox. Where if you just talk, you hear voices on speakers coming from the person in the game itself, and a push to talk where you only hear it through the headset.
