Just a quick question. What type of batteries do I need in order to run a Gilmore Lite or V1? (I plan on building one, but not the PSU) will two 9V be good?

a gilmore needs at least +/-12V and consumes more than 200mA by rail. Batteries are just unpractical for a class A amp. On the other hand, with 3 car batteries, you could try

if you really don't want to build a PS, you can buy the elpac wm072

Once upon a time, there was a variant of the Gilmore dynamic amp made for mint tins. It never saw a second board run. The End.

it depends on how you wire the whole thing

If your pcb (what will you be using ?) has pads for it, yes. Otherwise it's just a matter of having a power jack on the enclosure and 3 wires (+,- and gnd) running to the board.
