i currently own the denon c55k1 with the comply foam tips and while they do sound nice they don't have enough bass in them so it's time for something new

i listen to alot of rap and trance

thanks

edit- a friend of mine just told me to maybe look into a portable headphone amp, would that work? and can i use the same one for home use?

well for bass heavy cans look into ue super fi. 5 eb's or atrios a amp will improve sound quality but it wont really make a can heavier on bass like that they usually help refine the sound and bring out all the detail and smoothness

I see you haven't read up on the Dr. Dre headphones at all and falling for the 'rap' stereotype.
Good on ya for making yourself look like an idiot basing your opinion on assumptions and no facts.

Anyway, C551's = not enough bass!?

WHAT!?!?

Honestly.....

Also I always wear earphones over-the-ear as it reduces any sort of microphonics significantly.

You want something that sounds good other than doing big bass. I agree with the Image X10 suggestion.

Have you even tried out the Beats? They are nothing like you describe. The bass doesn't overpower anything. If anything I find them a tad too bright.

I have to agree, Dr Dre's beats headphones bass does not overpower the music, it sounds really good with great bass.

when i use them on my pc, the bass is wonderful(going straight to a asus xonar d2 soundcard) but when i use them with my ipod on the commute to work..the bass is is rarely there and the highs are so overpowering that in time i end up getting some ear fatigue

i dont think he can go for the image x10's. those sell for 350 and the half off sale is over. he wanted it to be less than 200. i would also reccommend the x10's, but its not under his preferences/requirements.
