Perhaps this is a bit of an oxymoron but are there any self powered monitors that accept a balanced signal that are relatively low priced?

Or if there isn't much of an improvement to be seen any thoughts anyone has would be great.

What would you consider low priced?

The Behringer Truth B2030a are also 299 and can be had for even cheaper if you do a search. They accept both trs balanced and xlr balanced. They are feature room compensation settings.

Why do you want balanced inputs? They are only an advantage for very long cable runs. If your cable lengths will be reasonable, 10 - 20 feet, there is no good reason to limit your choices to balanced.

That's not disinformation, it's just information not everyone agrees with.

A better point is: why select based on that feature, instead of "best sound"?

$300 would be what I consider a bargain for balanced equipment.

I'm just starting to look and am not dead set on them being balanced.

I've certainly heard an improvement in going balanced with my headphones so perhaps there isn't as much of an advantage with speakers but I'm a believer.

Stew, I would recommend balanced. I find my Mackies MR5 a marked improvement when connected over XLRs than RCAs. I got mine for $300 from Guitar centre during one of theor store wide sale. Watch out for them if you can. I have auditioned the M-audios with the Mackies and preferred the latter. See if you can audition them at your local guitar center before buying. Good luck.
