Hi!
Could someone link me to a shop that sells the 90deg mini XLR (?) connector used for balanced Ray Samuels Audio amps? I can't find it on any of the major parts distributors' websites (Digi-Key, Newark, Mouser, Allied Elec, etc). I HAVE seen it on audio-specific sites so I know it's out there.

What I really want to know is if this part is available on Digi-Key.com -- I'll be placing an order tonight. Here is a link to the SR71B. Its the plastic 90deg plug that fits the balanced 4-pin output jack: http://www.raysamuelsaudio.com/products/sr-71b

Thanks for your help!

Im pretty sure you can get them from Mouser. The connector is typically used for security cameras.

I dont know the part number off hand, but Im sure its out there somewhere.

I think we have a round-peg-in-a-square-hole situation here. The only way to make it work that I can see is to make an adapter; 2.5mm TRRS female to RSA male.
Too bad you're not going the other way. Norne audio makes that very adapter.

Here's a link to a 2.5mm TRRS inline jack: http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Kobiconn/161-6425-EX/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMv0W4pxf2HiV6QXVaK0kvxBPVmLsyJM4RI%3d

If you really ambitious, you could replace the RSA jack on the amp with one of these:

lot of work.

I'm looking to go balanced at the moment, and one of the principle considerations is this connector ... it's going to be a PITA to work with. Granted it's been hacked very nicely, but the fact that the connector is not available in cable-ended (M only?), panel mount (F only?), and PCB mount (F only?) versions readily and only appear to be available from only one manufacturer are not great signs for the future. I also don't know the history of this connector's use, and I am guessing that it was chosen primarily over other 4-conductor options for its size, but it needs to have more support in order to be truly a good way forward.

Pretty sure Kobiconn intended it to be a camera plug. Manufacturers seem to have mostly settled on a 4 pin XLR for balanced audio on full-sized setups, but with portable setups there's 2.5mm TRRS, 3.5mm TRRS, dual 3.5mm, 4 pin mini XLR, Kobiconn, and a number of others. I personally think it should just be a 4 pin mini XLR, they're ubiquitous and the connection is more secure than a TRS, however there is no PCB mount mini XLR jack that I know of, hence why we have so many odd implementations.
