Certainly an interesting idea, and like I said, I don't see why it won't work as long as the pinout on the cable/headphone/amp all line up, and I can't imagine why they shouldn't, but it'd be worth taking a minute to investigate to make sure the headphone or amp aren't doing anything obnoxious, and that the cables are truly going balanced to both sides, and aren't shorting anything.
