B&O H9 Discussion and Impressions thread

  Hi

Bought these headphones today. They sound amazing, the comfort is top!
But they sound a little LOW at top volume.
The B&W P7 Wireless sound much higher at top volume.
I own BeoPlay H8, H9 and B&W P7 wireless.

Funny, another person said the same thing on here. What are you using as your source? I'm currently listening to them on 50% volume on my MPB and they're perfectly loud, just the thought of listening to them on 100% makes my ears hurt.

Hi

I use my iPhone 7 for listening.
I have not tried them on my MacBook Pro Retina yet.
But the volume is much higher on B&W P7 wireless.
Hopefully B&O fix it with a firmware upgrade, they did that with the H7.

I returned two pairs for this exact reason and decided to go with the 2nd Gen H6's. Couldn't be happier!

That was me. Haha

Hi Everybody.

First of all I am new to this site, so bare with me. I found this forum when doing some research before i bought my Beoplay H9´s. These headphones really caught my eye, and i found them really appealing to me. So I decided to buy them, earlier this week. Can safely say I was eager to get these babys out of the box, and finally try them out.

First impression was really good. The SQ is the best I have heard in any headphone and i really love it. I was just sitting here, listening to the great sound and picking up every detail. I´m a pop/ rock music kind of guy, so it took me a couple of hours before i decided to crank up the volume and try out some workout tunes.

Suddenly I became disappointed. I started using both the B6O and spotify equalizer to see if there was some limitation to the volume. This could not be right, are they really this LOW?? Even on maximum volume... And apparently they are, after reading some of the latest posts here. I really expected more from a headphone this expensive. And I  am now thinking of selling them, as I dont find them loud enough for my taste/use.

Is this a BT issue?? When connected with a wire to my MacBook 12" they are MUCH louder. Can/will this be fixed, as they apparently did with the H7?

Excuse my spelling mistakes, but hopefully you all can understand me.

Greetings from Norway.

I'm wondering if some people's ears are just different with volume levels. I have bothe H9's and P7W and listen from MBP and iPhone 7 Plus and although it is certainly true that the P7W are easier to drive I would never say the H9's don't go loud enough. My normal at work listening levels would be about 40% for P7W and 60% for H9's so both have lots of headroom to crank. I just tried turning the H9's with my iPhone 7 Plus up as much as I could stand and it was maybe 85%.

Sound is very individual for sure, but for a headphone this expensive I expected more, volumwise. As I said, the SQ is fantastic, I just find them low in volume. Maybe I´m just used to more? Hard to tell or explain really. Used with the cable, I love absolutely everything about the H9. But to me, the fact that they are wireless was a big reason for buying them in the first place. Safe to say, I am a bit confused here :p

....or B&O have QA issues and all H9's aren't equal.  :)

For what it's worth, I have no problems at all with volume over Bluetooth.  I wouldn't ever want to listen to these at over 60 or 70% volume from my iPad Pro 9.7 inch.  It could be that I just listen to music at lower volumes, I don't know, but I definitely can't hear the outside world with it on those volumes.  That's even more the case if you use the app to expand the bubble size.

I wonder if there is a quality control issue?  Maybe those with the volume issue could say where you purchased?  I bought mine at Headphone Hub / InMotion at IAH (Houston) Airport.

Hey something I just realized while idly staring at the bottom of the H9 box. These headphones are Low Latency! over bluetooth. I thought I had read somewhere that they weren't LL, so I just forgot about it. But there it is right in plain sight. That's good for gamers!

This is quite a complex thing, since we all have different taste, and preferences. Would be interesting to listen to another pair. Just to find out if they sound the same. Mine are bought via the Beoplay website.
