I took a look as a result of the posts above. The dt990/600ohm 2005 model are available there @ $319.00. Back in 2006 my Manufaktur pair cost me aprox $450 (which I continue to own)..........they're special order and claim they can deliver in 7-14 days.

For the low price offered, I just got another pair (sold the first) of 250 ohm 2005 DT990 -- still burning-in, but they sure do sound mighty good -- just as I remember them.
I needed another decent-sounding open can, that was comfy to boot, and these are all that.
Gonna keep them this time.
Out-of-the box, they were quite tinny-sounding. After approximately 75 hours of burn-in, they have already displayed great lows, great mids, great highs -- realisitic vocals -- what more can I ask for?
What a bargain!

Got them yesterday and so far I am impressed. A little bit of burn in (about 12 hours) did wonders. They sound like the 880s on steriods. They definitely have a different sound though, not nearly as dry as the 880s and a satisfying bass punch. My favorite full size I have owned, my short list includes the K601s, 770 80s and 2005 250s, HD595s, D2000s and dt880s. Best $188 I have spent since joining Headfi!
