Still waiting on word about repairs. Going on almost a month now since it made it's way to china. Gotta love China express...
I agree with Skyfall. I too have the MS2 version and never had problems scanning or it reading all files in a folder. As for heat I can relate a small bit with it stacked with the B1. If playing a lot of high quality for extended periods (ie. hours) than it does get noticeably warm, not hot though.
Guys.. Can the M2S be used as a USB DAC?
Any comparison between M2s and Shanling M5? Thanks!
I had both but not in the same time. So, I can only compare them by memory.
To my ears, they are not playing in the same league. Tested with Meze 99 Classics and Shure 1540, M5 is very (very) similar to my Cayin N5. I only felt the N5 being more powerful and with a more impactful low end...I returned the M5 few days after purchase. not worth 500$ in term of SQ (N5 sounding so similar for almost 200$ less)
But, Aune M2 is (way) above both in term of SQ, it compete against the Mojo, mids and bass are more textured, highs smoother and more detailed, soundstage way more extended than M5 and N5.
Very poor battery life, no USB DAC (even no USB transfer!!) and obsolete UI are major concerns with the M2. But to my ears and tastes, this is the best sounding DAP under 800$ available today. M5 is much more pleasant to use however with modern UI and screen.
A damn fine portable set ups
I'll be at the Socal CanJam in San Fransisco July 16th if anyone is interested in demoing.
@ExpiredLabel
I really admired your patient and devotion and hope all those waits be paid off soon :wink_face:
In this case I'm using Duet from Cypherlabs to take advantage of the balance output.
I found that using balance increases size, width and the depth by at least 20% than the single ended.
B1 on its highest settings competes with Duet on single ended but not on balance.
Glad you got your M2s back. How does it compare to mojo ?
