Evil?! Moi? I'm a victim of this most pernicious site. A very unfortunate one, though still remaining more unscathed than some of the real no-hopers. Why can't headphones be like speakers and we'll all just listen to one pair?

What percentage just holding and tenderly caressing each one?

I switch between headphones often, depending on the music and other factors. Usually 50% ATs, 30% K701/HD650/SA5000 and 20% others. I reserve the tender caressing to imaginary headphones I've never heard (HE90, R10, etc.).

*Bows respectfully before the DHA3000*
The A950LTD currently ranks last among the five. The W5000, AD2000 and L3000 share the top spot, followed by the W2002 and then the A950LTD. If I had to choose one favorite, I would pick the W5000.
I like a realistic sense of air, hyper details and a large, layered soundstage. I like 3D-like, crystal-clear and etched notes with very well-defined attack and decay. Treble should be slightly sharp and a bit bright without any trace of harshness or sibilance. I like hearing the individual plucks of a guitar, each one standing out on its own and making a strum sound more like the combination of many plucks. I like a slightly forward-sounding midrange with smooth and sweet-sounding female vocals. I like tight, accurate, textured bass; I don't like boominess or any hint of muddiness. I want holographic imaging with the source of each sound and placement of instruments to be precise.
Based on this, I prefer the W5000 over the L3000, and therefore also the A950LTD. The A950LTD is similar to the L3000 in many ways, but lacks some qualities such as the L3000's details, distinctive dynamics and excellent-quality bass that make the L3000 such an emotional and exciting headphone.
To me, the A950LTD is a bit too closed-in and soundstage size is small. There's little sense of air, especially compared to open headphones such as the AD2000, K701 and SA5000. Bass quantity is high, but lacks details and textures.
Maybe I'm reaching the low point in the burn-in cycle described by slwiser. My A950LTD impressions may sound negative so far, but it's fighting against more expensive headphones. There's also the closed vs. open issue to consider, since my preferences tend towards open headphones.
More burn-in and impressions soon...
