If I like listening to music a specific way and one specific headphone gives that to me, then by the default another headphone won’t sound good to me.

True that. I think that if we own more than one headphone, amp or DAC etc., we subconsciously compare and lean more towards one or the other. That can and often is fun, but also redirects our focus from listening to music to listening to hardware :)

It’s the same for motorcycles for me. There’s been quite a few times I’ve owned two bikes at the same time and I always end up riding the same bike and the other sits in the garage. I end up selling the other one. I just never learn my lesson. LOL

I hear you, some of us simply like to collect stuff even though most of it remains unused. Not a bad thing per se ;)

I liked the idea of having just one pair that can do it all but that was naive.
I have 3 cans that fit all my needs and some even overlap in certain areas but its nice to compare them from time to time.

Despite my love for music gear (does anyone use the term GAS here?) I learned from my first hobby (electric bass) that collecting distracted me from the purpose which is music. Discussing weight, materials, vintage etc is very fun but became pointless when there was no music being made despite having a half dozen instruments everywhere.

I find it odd for example how most audiophile reviews on YT talk gear without music references. How do we know what youre referencing? That actually that might be a good thing since sometimes their music preferences are very..... interesting. :smile_phones:

Yep, that was my point. Thanks!

Well, I’ve only had one headphone at a time as well. However that’s because I’ve owned 50 headphones prior (only one at a time) to find that favorite one, only to be sold for the next favorite one :)
Yea, uh, except you roll through gear at an inordinate clip.

But the wheels stopped when I realized my $1500 DAP and Headphone gives me like 90% of any of the expensive gear I’ve owned, and I’m serious. 😃
Problem is, I do not believe you. 🤣

Seriously, I sent the Bricasti M3 back because it wasn’t really better TO ME than the iBasso DX300 Max with Empyrean Elite and Danacable headphone cable.

After all the components I’ve gone through, and money spent, you hit the law of diminishing returns fairly quickly. To spend uber money on a DAC for headphones is mental masturbation. For two channel speaker system, that’s another story.

Believe me I’ve spent a lot of money on my headphone set ups that most people wouldn’t spend on a two channel speaker setup.

That appears to be your problem. Not mine.
Oh, the declaration of history is on my side. Let's talk in, say, five months or five weeks. But you're cute.

I’m just saying that I have tried a lot of equipment and I still say the portable set up that I have now may not be as great as a full-blown balls to the wall money spent system, but it’s 90% of it. In the end you’ll always be limited by the fact that it’s headphones. Took me a long time to understand it, or I should say, allow myself to believe it.

Now this is the correct form to say this!
